Savina Hopkins
Savina Hopkins’ art practice is predominately collage based, with a focus on using salvaged materials whose physical qualities are suggestive of previous histories. Hopkins uses ideas that are embedded or extruded from materials as a springboard into spaces where humour and history rub shoulders, nostalgia and discomfort mingle, and meaning and abstraction wrestle. The interface between damage and healing, the malleability of memories and subversion of function are recurring themes in her work.
