Aly Aitken completed a Bachelor of Art (Painting) at RMIT in 2008. Since that time she has worked primarily in her cupboard constructing a world of her own choosing. A strange, gothic world of dark and hungry furnishings her assemblages are made from a vast array of gothic and antique cast-offs.
Aitken has won several awards, ranging from her selection in Debut V, the Siemens Scholarship, and as a finalist in Off The Wall and Woolahra Small Sculpture Prize and winner of the Yering Station Sculpture Prize. She was invited to participate in 2017 “Not Fair”.
Her work has been represented in various solo and group shows since graduating and has toured nationally with “Dreamweavers”.
