Wendy Grace

The idea for these paintings on glass evolved during the COVID lockdowns where interactions with the outside world was mediated by glass screens – phone, computer.

My paintings have always focused on abstract compositions drawing on the history of abstract expressionism. These works continue my experimental approach exploring colour, pattern, mark making and spatial elements. I love the way the glass reflects the surroundings and the viewer. External elements that face the painting catch the light that projects on to the glass and become part of the surface of the work; adding another dimension to the painting.

My work is driven by my desire to create pathways to the imagination, to evoke feelings and visual sensations.
