Ramak Bamzar

Ramak Bamzar (b. 1980, Tehran) is a Naarm (Melbourne)-based visual artist and emerging writer working primarily in photography. Her work sits at the intersection of personal narrative and social commentary, often exploring how identity –
especially in relation to gender, culture, and migration—is shaped and reshaped through time. Originally trained in visual communication and later completing a Master of Fine Art at RMIT University, Bamzar brings a refined visual sensibility to her
practice, using light, colour, and texture to evoke internal states and emotional memory.

Bamzar’s perspective is deeply informed by her Iranian heritage and her experiences as a woman navigating cultural duality. Her images often centre around the body, ritual, childhood memory, and the psychological landscapes of domestic or feminine-
coded spaces. With a background in both documentary and conceptual photography, she creates visual narratives that are emotionally rich and psychologically layered.

In addition to her art practice, Bamzar writes in both English and Farsi, often exploring similar themes through memoir and poetic nonfiction. She is currently pursuing a Master of Teaching, with a growing interest in how art and storytelling can be
used as tools for empathy and cultural dialogue.
